Gold Filled for Gold
At Frankie and Eugene, we celebrate the beauty of both gemstones and metals in our jewelry. We love gold, silver, and even bronze for different reasons. While we do offer many 14k solid gold pieces, a significant portion of our jewelry is crafted from 14k gold-filled materials.
It’s important to clarify that gold-filled and gold-plated are not the same. Both feature a thin layer of solid gold over a base metal, but the processes and benefits differ significantly. Gold-filled jewelry consists of a solid layer of gold bonded to a base metal—typically brass or copper. This means it contains at least 5% gold by weight, making it more durable and tarnish-resistant than gold-plated items. With proper care, gold-filled pieces can maintain their stunning appearance for years, closely resembling solid gold at a more affordable price.
Additionally, gold-filled jewelry is generally hypoallergenic, reducing the likelihood of allergic reactions compared to some plated or base metal alternatives.
The world of gleaming gold is vast, and staying informed can help you make choices that are truly "good as gold."
